NEW BUILDING CAMPAIGN

The mission of our church is to bring the ancient faith of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria to English Speakers. Our congregation is fast outgrowing our temporary location, and we are looking to relocate to a permanent home. Having a permanent location would allow us to better outreach the community by being identifiable with the unique traditional style of a Coptic parish and to provide for our community by having the space for a social hall, Sunday School classrooms, and meeting spaces for high school and college youth, and young professionals.

NEW PARISH SURVEY

Abouna Antony has asked us to please fill out a second parish survey in order to better guide him as we move forward in growing as a parish. Please take the survey here.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are."

- St. Augustine of Hippo, commemorated on 22 Mesore/28 August

SAN DIEGO ORTHODOX YOUNG ADULTS' COMPLINE AND COFFEE MEETING

This Thursday, St. Basil's will be hosting the monthly meeting of the pan-Orthodox young adults' fellowship. Continuing their series on the Sermon on the Mount, Fr. Antony will be giving a talk on Matthew 5:38-48, "Loving Your Enemies." We hope you can join us for this time of prayer and fellowship with our brothers and sisters!

SAVE THE DATE - ANNUAL PARISH RETREAT

Just a heads up that our annual St. Basil's parish retreat will be held January 12th-14th, 2018. That means you've got 5 months to make sure you save that weekend in your calendars so our parish family can spend a weekend of fun, fellowship, and edification together!

ABOUNA ANTONY'S CONTACT INFO

Please remember that Abouna Antony has a separate phone number set up for those of us at St. Basil's, to help him keep on top of important news and requests from his parishioners. We should be texting and calling him at that number to help him keep track of his messages. He can be reached at (858) 707-5520.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, VISITATIONS & CONFESSIONS

Please let us know if you have any upcoming important events for us to share with our fellow congregants. Special events are best shared amongst our family, and we encourage you to send an email to info@stbasil.net to share your special news. In addition, if you would like to schedule a time for a visit or confession with Father Antony Paul, please email priest@stbasil.net or approach him after the Liturgy on Sunday.

WEBSITE & HYMNS

We encourage all congregants to take some time to check out the parish website. All are also encouraged to listen to the liturgical hymns as they are chanted at St. Basil, which can be found here.

FOOD & CLEAN-UP

To sign up to bring food for the agape meal on Sundays, please fill in the weekly spreadsheet available HERE. We need as many volunteers as possible to keep the church clean on Sundays after the Divine Liturgy. Please consider this important expression of stewardship.
