QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"The person who truly wishes to be healed is he who does not refuse treatment. This treatment consists of the pain and distress brought on by various misfortunes. He who refuses them does not realize what they accomplish in this world or what he will gain from them when he departs this life."

+St. Maximus the Confessor

MEN’S BOOK CLUB

image1.jpg

Come join us at church on Tuesdays for a five-week review of the “Words for Our Time” written by Fr. Matthew the Poor (Meskeen). Books have already been purchased so please register by texting George Soliman at (773) 255-8415 or emailing him at georgeasoliman@gmail.com to get your copy.

Don’t be sad ladies! Following the completion of this five-week book review, we will begin a series with the Women’s Group.  We need a volunteer(s) to help lead this effort so please contact Fr. Michael if you are interested!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Thank you all for your prayers and donations during this past week. We are overwhelmed by everyone’s support which helped us get closer to the purchase of our building on Ferris Square. God has blessed us with a great community of caring and generous human beings.

We are still in need of about $40,000 by June 30, 2019 in order to secure the down payment, have enough for some essential improvements and clear the escrow process. Without these funds in the next week, the contract to purchase our current church expires without an opportunity to extend. If you can find it in your hearts to give during this critical time or if friends and loved ones you have told would like to help, please visit http://stbasil.net/donate for donations. Personal loans to the church may also be an option. Please contact Fr. Michael or Mina Said at (559) 280-1825 for more information or to answer any questions.

Your continued support, through your prayers and donations, during this crucial time is much appreciated and may God reward you.

HELP WITH AMAZON SMILE

If you are looking into other ways to support our church, the AmazonSmile Foundation offers an easy way to give while browsing the Amazon shop. It will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases, at no cost to you. To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.com (you may want to add a bookmark to make it easier to return). You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on the product detail pages. If you already own an Amazon account you can use the same account for AmazonSmile. On your first visit, please select “Saint Basil American Coptic Orthodox Church” as your charity of choice. Amazon will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make will result in a donation for our church. Thank you so much for your love and support.
