PEACE AND GRACE!

Commemoration of the The Reign of the Righteous Emperor Constantine, the Great (August 18 / Mesra 12)

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

'When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven, and I also say to you that you are Peter and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven." Then He commanded his disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

WOMEN’S BOOK CLUB

Come join us on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm for a review of the “The Jewel of Heaven and The Beacon of Monasticism”. The remarkable spiritual biography of our blessed Mother, Tamav (a Coptic word for “my mother’) Erene makes us bow before this great spirit that shone among us. She has a clear mission assigned from heaven. With faithfulness and tremendous struggle, she carried it on her shoulders, and offered it fully on the altar for Divine Love. For this and for all that her pure hands accomplished throughout her shining life, the Lord crowned her with glory.

Please consider bringing a dish for our potluck.

ST. MARY’S FAST

August 7 marked the start of the Fast of St. Mary. This is a two-week fast (fish permitted) that helps prepare us for the Feast of the Assumption on August 22.

St. Mary is the greatest woman that ever lived. She was chosen by the Father to bear His Only-Begotten Son, gave birth to the Savior of the world, and was the first person in history to receive Christ as her Savior. Consequently, she is our model of obedience and submission; of purity and holiness; of humility and royalty. Read more here.
