These kits will make a big difference for people in need, so if you have not done so yet, please grab a kit or two next time you come to church. You can keep them in your car for when we encounter someone in need.

ORPHANAGE TRIP A BIG SUCCESS

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in making the trip to Mexico with S.O.W. a success! Your prayers, donations, and time made a massive impact on the orphanage and children. We were able to play and do projects with the kids, sponsor a lunch, and give the kitchen staff a break from cooking and cleaning. Despite all of this, we came home feeling like they impacted our life, rather than the other way around! If you would still like to make donations of any lightly used and clean clothing or toys, please contact Sarah Michael (714-875-7058) for more information. We are also able to sponsor children and send gifts or home supplies for the holidays. God willing, the plan is to have another trip early 2019! Thanks again to everyone who participated!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Blessed is God! In our time as well martyrs have come forth, and we have been made worthy to see people sacrificed for the Lord Christ, people who shed their holy blood to irrigate the entire Church. We have been made worthy to see people, advocates of piety, who are victorious, who are crowned … and we now have these crowned ones among us.
+St John Chrysostom

FEAST OF THE NAYROUZ (COPTIC NEW YEAR)

Martyrs.jpg

Tuesday is the beginning of the blessed Coptic year. It is necessary to keep it a holy day with full purity and chastity. Let us start a new demeanor as St. Paul the Apostle says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation." (2 Cor. 5:17-18). We ask our God to keep us without sin and help us to act according to His will with the intercessions of the pure Saint Mary, all the Martyrs and Saints.

Feast of the assumption

On August 22nd (16 Misra), we celebrate the assumption of the body of our pure Lady Saint Mary, the Mother of God. August 22 also marks the end of the fast of Saint Mary. While Saint Mary was keeping vigil, praying in the Holy Sepulcher, and waiting for the happy minute of her liberation from the bonds of the flesh, the Holy Spirit informed her of her forthcoming departure from this vain world.
