QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Never confuse the person, formed in the image of God, with the evil that is in him: because evil is but a chance misfortune, an illness, a devilish reverie. But the very essence of the person is the image of God, and this remains in him despite every disfigurement.”

—St. John of Kronstadt

JULY 12 || APOSTLES FEAST

On July 12th, we celebrate the Apostles’ Feast. Let us rejoice in the ministry of these twelve great men that began the spread of Christianity to the far corners of the earth. You can honor the Apostles by:

  • Reading the New Testament passages related to the Apostles. Especially worth reading during this time is the Acts of the Apostles, since this book deals with the ministry of St. Peter and St. Paul.

  • Studying the lives of the Apostles themselves. There are many wonderful traditions about their accomplishments in the life of the early Church.

May their prayers be with us, and Glory be to God forever. Amen.

BUILDING PURCHASE UPDATE!

CONGRATULATIONS AND GLORY TO GOD!

St. Basil wants to thank you all for your prayers and generosity towards the difficult challenge we faced in order to close on the purchase of our building. Through God’s grace we not only closed in time, but the appraisal for the building came back much higher than anticipated and consequently there is considerable equity in our property! Next, the church will begin improvements including Roofing, A/C, Sunday School Rooms, a Youth Activity Lounge, and Iconography. We are so very thankful and excited about the amazing home we have all come together to build. May God continue to bless us all.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2019 GRADUATES

We are still in need of about $40,000 by June 30, 2019 in order to secure the down payment, have enough for some essential improvements and clear the escrow process. Without these funds in the next week, the contract to purchase our current church expires without an opportunity to extend. Personal loans to the church may also be an option. Please contact Fr. Michael or Mina Said at (559) 280-1825 for more information or to answer any questions.

We need your help!

Through God’s grace we have opened escrow for the purchase of our building on Ferris Sq. As a reminder, we signed a lease allowing us the option to buy the building by June 30, 2019 at a contracted price significantly less than it’s current worth. We have been blessed by the generosity of many and have received nearly $400k towards the down payment. Unfortunately, through the terms of the loan with the bank, we are in need of an additional $125,000 in the next two weeks in order to secure the down payment, have enough for some essential improvements and clear the escrow process. Without these funds in the next two weeks, the contract to purchase our current church expires without an opportunity to extend. GREAT LENT STARTED MARCH 4TH

As we began the Holy and Great Fast, it is important that each of us receives spiritual guidance with regards to how to fast - please ensure you receive guidance from your spiritual father. We prepare for the most holy time of the year, where we remember our Lord's agony, death, and far more importantly: resurrection.
