QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“This is the kind of fasting I want says the Lord: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned, lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free. Remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, do not hide from relatives who need your help.”

Isaiah 58:6

GREAT LENT HAS STARTED

As we begin the Holy and Great Fast, it is important that each of us receives spiritual guidance with regards to how to fast - please ensure you receive guidance from your spiritual father. Lent is a time of asceticism and self-control; a time for modesty in all that we do. We prepare for the most holy time of the year, where we remember our Lord's agony, death, and far more importantly: resurrection.

FEBRUARY 25 || LADIES BOOK CLUB

Come join us on Tuesdays for fellowship. The women’s group will meet this Tuesday, February 25th at St. Basil’s. A fellowship meal will start at 7:00 p.m. and the discussion will begin at 7:30 p.m.

FEBRUARY 29 || PREPARATION FOR BAPTISM (CATUCHEMEN) CLASSES

Come join us on Saturday nights at 6:45 PM (after the Vespers Prayers) for Baptism preparation classes. These classes are for those interested in becoming members of the Coptic Orthodox Church, for those recently baptized (within the last few years), or simply for anyone else seeking to better understand the basics of the Christian Faith. Together, we will review the importance of baptism and its impact, the Sacraments, the inspiring church history, the Orthodox Creed, the Holy Bible, Orthodox Prayer and Spiritual life, and Church traditions.

Reading material will be provided for those who wish to attend.
