QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Let the mouth too fast from disgraceful speeches and railing. For what does it profit if we abstain from birds and fishes; and yet bite and devour our brothers? The evil speaker eats the flesh of his brother, and bites the body of his neighbor.”

GREAT LENT HAS STARTED

Wishing the congregation of St. Basil’s a blessed lent full of spiritual revival and fruitful fasting.  Fasting allows us to remember that this is a sacred time which is devoted to God.  It is a time when God’s presence is very visible in your behavior. Fasting enlightens and trains our mind, body and spirit towards the Christian lifestyle of “holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” (Heb 12:14).

MARCH 7 || PREPARATION FOR BAPTISM (CATUCHEMEN) CLASSES

Come join us on Saturday nights at 6:45 PM (after the Vespers Prayers) for Baptism preparation classes. These classes are for those interested in becoming members of the Coptic Orthodox Church, for those recently baptized (within the last few years), or simply for anyone else seeking to better understand the basics of the Christian Faith. Together, we will review the importance of baptism and its impact, the Sacraments, the inspiring church history, the Orthodox Creed, the Holy Bible, Orthodox Prayer and Spiritual life, and Church traditions.

Reading material will be provided for those who wish to attend.
